Happy Birthday Stacy Jean!
Today, is my BFF's birthday - Mrs. Stacy Jean Turner. Stacy and I have been friends for some time now and we've had a whole slew of memorable experiences. She is a great friend to so many people and I've been lucky to meet new and interesting people through her, some of which have become close friends. Stacy is a gadget girl like me and she plays a mean video game. Can you believe this girl has a Xbox 360 and a Wii? Trust me they are all hers because hubby Steve doesn't really like to play. She is a career-minded woman and has done quite successfully professionally as a product manager. Brett and I are fortunate to have such great friends in Steve and Stacy and we really enjoy all the time we spend with them. Now with baby Kate things are even more exciting for Uncle Steve and Auntie Stacy! Stacy was there for the birth and took pictures. Kate returned the favor by projectile vomiting on her not too long after (maybe that was payback for Palm Springs). Ahhh, memories. And there will be so many more.
Happy Birthday Stacy - we love you!

Friend from the north
This past weekend, we had the pleasure of having my dear friend Maya visit from Ukiah (a gorgeous, artsy Mendocino town about 2.5 hours north of San Fran). Maya and I met in college at Cal Poly Pomona in around 96 or 97. We both were boarding our horses on campus and we became fast friends. I feel fortunate that this friendship has lasted all these years and has seen us through many milestones in both of our lives.
Usually I fly up to Oakland, rent a car and make the super scenic and very relaxing drive up to Ukiah to visit Maya. The last time was to meet her son Tyler, then 4-months, now 2 years. Maya hasn't been to my house since before I got married in 2003. We did manage to see each other last summer in Las Vegas for her sister Angela's bachelorette party and then again here in so-cal right before Angela's wedding.
I really had a great time and I think Maya did too - especially since she was able to get a full night's sleep. However, I know she missed her adorable little boy. I am so glad she got to meet Kate. I can't believe that we both are now married with kids. Time sure does fly!
Thanks, Maya, for being such a wonderful friend and a genuinely good person that I look up to. Can't wait for you to come visit again soon!
